Living Room & Dining Area Refresh | Rochester, MN

The Challenge

This patio home living room and dining area had gradually accumulated everyday items, paperwork, and miscellaneous storage that disrupted flow and visual calm. Furniture placement limited open space, surfaces had become catch-alls, and the room felt tighter than it actually was. The goal was not a full redesign — it was to restore clarity, improve layout, and create a space that felt lighter and easier to maintain.

The Approach

We began by fully editing the space — removing excess items, clearing flat surfaces, and relocating anything that didn’t belong in the main living area. Furniture was subtly repositioned to improve flow around the fireplace and seating zone. The dining table was cleared and reset to function intentionally rather than as overflow storage. Decorative items were simplified, visual distractions were reduced, and open wall space was allowed to breathe. Every decision focused on comfort, proportion, and everyday usability.

The Result

The room now feels open, cohesive, and calm. Clear pathways improve movement throughout the space. The fireplace seating area feels anchored and intentional. The dining area functions properly again. What once felt crowded now feels spacious — without removing the personality or warmth of the home.
